Ken Burns Editing Tool

The Ken Burns effect is a popular name for a type of panning and zooming effect used in video production.
Whilst exploring the different editing tools within iMedia we began to use this and liked the simplicity of it and the positive effect it had on our production. It allowed relevant elements to be emphasised without it being too opressive.

  1. Which of your trailers in the research used it and to what effect?

  3. Although we researched a lot of trailers and extracted ideas from these, the Ken Burns effect was not a result of this. We chose to use this off our own backs. We liked the way it drew attention to important bits of footage. Because it is only a trailer we don't have a lot of time to get the narrative across to the audience so this editing tool allowed us to do this succesfully in a short amount of time.
